Backpacker's destination: Where to go in 2010

So i know some may be far fetched that is why i limited the choices to the places i think i can afford with my current status as unemployed with very little business almost non-existent and just the love of my parents keeping my survival on the trips i take.  Here are the top places i wanna go and visit this 2010.

Up until now people don't realize that the stigma that "traveling is expensive" is obviously overrated so i really think anyone can travel if they want to. Its all in the matter of giving the best excuse to your boss or saving some cash and staying away from the sale signs.

1. Indonesia.
I really hope that 2010, Indonesia will be bomb-free, political instability-free, religion warfare-free, and most of all... terrorist-free! I really want to visit this country and know why everyone is just raving about this arguably the most beautiful country of South East Asia peninsula. Asked any backpacker i know, hands down Indonesia is one of their top most beautiful country in the world. I want to visit the Borobudur temple and take photos of the gigantic bell, i wanna see the epic Bali and this is the only place where i will try surfing, i want to go to Lombok province, and chill in the beach, lie in the hammock and drink orange juice he he watch daily rituals of Indonesian locals, spa, be alcohol free the rest of the trip, meditate, find myself surviving the jungles of the largest archipelago in the world that is majestic Indonesia.

2. Sri Lanka.
I want to maybe visit India but i am not feeling it anytime soon. Maybe after a while of exploring south east Asia and seeing too many travelers all doing the same thing, i got tired. I wanna go to Sri Lanka and see freely elephants and other jungle animals roaming around the streets, i wanna see the longest beach in the world, i wanna see India but not necessarily the country. i wanna pray with the gods, worship the sun. i wanna relax in a deserted beach, i wanna help out the poor people of Sri Lanka, i wanna explore the country so underrated but is literally blessed with the best.

3. Palawan.
Going back to our nation, i have a confession to make, i've been down south to the many islands of Thailand but i haven't been to Palawan. My father is a doctor and he has been telling me that Palawan sits in a malaria high risk zone. Let's just be honest. Its no joke. But I wanna travel around Palawan for a month. Start from El Nido, explore the rest of Busuanga islands, see the giraffes, and safari around Calauit, i wanna head down to the capital and try out the tasty sea food, visit the underground river, i wanna head to the little Vietnam town, i wanna visit Culion and how an online buddy priest has been professing Jesus faith amongst the small town-building churches, etc. i wanna visit the leprocy town and make them feel loved and cared for. I just wanna explore the country's last frontier.

4. Thailand again and again..
I wanna see the rest of the islands like Koh Tao and still not dive but maybe snorkel, i wanna pamper myself a bit with a steady massage in Koh Samui, i wanna go back to Koh Pha Ngan and go to the full moon party again, this time take as many photos as possible and videos too. the last time was not favorable as the battery of my camera died, and how stupid am i not bringing a charger, i wanna attend also the half moon party in the jungle, i wanna see the quieter beaches of Koh Pha Ngan. All the waterfalls and lone beaches.

I wanna visit Northern Thailand and Chiangmai and chill in the cool city metropolis, karaoke, night markets, buy local art and maybe if i have enough money to take care of an elephant, i want to meditate on top of a mountain, i also want to detour a bit off the beaten path to north eastern Thailand and just stay in a little shack and watch the fields as the workers harvest their fruits of labor, i wanna do nothing and just chill and go back to simple living, as per lonely planet this is the most unexplored region of Thailand. Brilliant!

EDIT: February 2010 i am off to Thailand.

5. The rest of Visayas.
I wanna visit Bacolod and Dumaguete and just look at the beautiful scenery and the beautiful people, i wanna eat merienda near the sea as i watch the sunset, i wanna discover Siquijor and challenge myself to stay overnight as i still do believe the elemental lurk around the quiet most unexplored territory of the Philippines, i wanna go to Cebu just because its the oldest province in the country, and party with the Cebuano, learn the native Cebuano dialect, i wanna stay the longest in Bantayan island, Olango, all the beaches of Cebu and feel a little luxury staying in Mactan if i still have some credit in my card because it has been my dream since two years ago. i wanna go back if time and budget permits to Ilo-Ilo because from research Concepcion appears to be my kind of destination, and Guimaras because i promise myself to go back there again.

EDIT: July 2010 I'm off exploring the different provinces and islands of the Visayas region.

the rest..

Taiwan, because its so near the Philippines, a quick one week trip around Taipei and the rest of the country side seems a good way to spend cashhh, buying affordable goods with maximum style, i wanna feel cold, i wanna walk around and not looking like everyone else, i wanna belt the greatest ballads during karaoke nights, i wanna try out stinky tofu, and i just want to go back to good old Chinese region.

There so far, these are the places i want to go to because as much as i want to go to

this year, i think unless i am gifted a round trip ticket or have won the lottery this seems like too far of a dream. If in any case along the way i add up some more destinations, delete some or basically exchange route trips, i will edit this entry and hope for the best because i don't wanna stop traveling ever.

  6. I'm going to Indoland this year too. Oh and Bangkok. I'm still contemplating about getting the 50% seat sale of CEB PAC going to South Korea or Hong Kong. CEB PAC's offers are ALWAYS tempting.
