"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
I reckon what Mark Twain was feeling then when he wrote this was the very same feeling I had when I first started traveling. And up until now, the very same emotion still fills my heart whenever i'm on the road.
I started adventure traveling / backpacking back in 2007. I had a broken heart and a low self-worth, and I needed to get away as far as possible. I went on a trip alone, down south of my country, the Philippines to where no one knows me and no one will find me. Little did I know, this was the beginning of my journey to discover the world.
About a year after, I went on a backpacking odyssey to the lovely islands of Thailand. In Krabi, where time stood still for me, I spent the best days of my life living right in the middle of nowhere, communing with nature and humbling myself with the simplicity of life. It dawned on me what I want to do for the rest of my life, and that is to never stop unraveling the beauty of our planet.
The name "Pinoy Boy" was coined by an American backpacker I met in one of my trips to Thailand. She said it with proud and delight whenever she sees me. Hence, the name of this blog.
I never stopped traveling since then. Mostly on solo trips, i always find myself wandering around my beloved country, The Philippines and countries in Asia like China, Thailand, Cambodia,Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and most recently, India. Most of my trips are spent walking around sois and finding myself lost, drinking ice cold beer during happy hour, hanging out with fellow travelers from the hostel, occasionally giving in to adrenaline rush ,and spending many quiet afternoons meditating.
As I always say, there is nothing in this world I would do more than to travel the world, this is my world and I chose to see it.
Mabuhay!
